Alonso Wins 1st Singapore Formula One GP
This is the first night race in Formula One racing history, and what an exciting one it’s been! Felipe Massa (Ferrari) had pole position, and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) was next to him on the grid.
With fifteen laps to go, the deployment of the safety car shook up positions and placed Fernando Alonso (Renault) in the lead. He maximised the opportunity and won at the first Formula One Grand Prix in Singapore. Nico Rosberg (Williams) was second, and Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) third.
Felipe Massa (Ferrari) had an incident in the pits, and when he got the green light, he drove off, but the fuel pipe was still attached to the car! Someone’s in for a bollocking!
Massa was trailing Hamilton by only one point in the drivers’ championship, but this result has extended Hamilton’s lead to 7 points. You really don’t know what’s going to happen in Formula One racing, and with three races remaining this season, the Championship is still wide open.
The Japanese Grand Prix is in two weeks’ time on 12 October.
